Pool Safety

Above Ground Pool Safety with Lifeguard ChairWe built an elevated Lifeguard chair with platform and umbrella for shade so that we can have full view of the kids while they are swimming.

Here are some common sense rules:

  • Supervise children at all times, never leave them unattended in the pool.
  • Do not swim alone.
  • No diving from the ladder or deck around your above ground pool.
  • Keep glass containers and beverages away from the pool area.

Here are some of our favorite pool safety products:

Confer Safety Ladder
Upgrade your pool ladder and add safety features. This ladder from Confer Plastics features a roll-up barrier that can be locked to prevent access from the outside of the pool, or when open will prevent kids from getting caught in between steps while in the water.

Not recommended by the manufacturer for Intex pools because they suggest it should be secured to the top rail of the pool. We’ve read reviews from Intex pool owners that are using this ladder happily.

Floatation Vests
Add buoyancy as your child learns to swim. Some vests allow for adjustment and removal of foam pads over time.

(Never leave children unattended while in the pool even when wearing a floatation vest.)
